A bit about them:

In 2013 Hunter opened Brae in the picturesque location of Birregurra situated along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. The restaurant is the ultimate immersive experience for guests, with dishes sustainably created from the produce reared from the land it is built on.

“The property is managed using regenerative farming techniques to restore the land and is designed for guests to explore, with dedicated walking paths and interpretative signage reconnecting visitors to their food and the place it comes from.” - Brae Restaurant

As a chef, Hunter’s name is recognised around the world, previously holding Head Chef position at acclaimed Mugaritz, Spain, and Victoria’s Royal Mail Hotel, Dunkeld, earning the iconic establishment 3-hats. Amidst Hunter’s accomplishments, he has been named as Chef of The Year 2012 & 2016 by The Age Good Food Guide, and Top Chef of 2016 and 2017 as part of The Australian Financial Review’s Top Restaurants Awards.

The drastic extent of COVID-19 across the hospitality industry has been widely felt, seemingly changing the restaurant and dining format overnight. During this time, Hunter and business partner and wife Julianne Bagnato, have pivoted the business to create produce boxes for their local community, showcasing their organic and sustainably grown heritage fruits and vegetables.

Despite Melbournians already amidst another stage of lockdown, regional Victorian based, Brae has reopened and is currently accepting bookings for in-house dining.
